The government has called upon Small and Medium Enterprises. They are needed to help address the nation’s increasing waste management issues. This is specifically true for plastic waste.
The initiative offers financial support and grants to small and medium enterprises involved in recycling and waste management projects. Its goal is to advance a circular economy and stimulate employment opportunities.
Mohammed Murtala, the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, ensured that each of the 10 SMEs received approximately $300,000. He also emphasised that the government would closely monitor this initiative.
“We should all be conscious and monitor how the monies will be utilised. I do not need a dollar or a cedi from you. You need to use the money for the intended purpose, and I will be doing the monitoring because this is just the first tranche,” he declared.
