World Vision Launches Campaign to Combat Child Hunger and Malnutrition

World Vision Ghana, a Christian child relief organisation, has launched a three-year multi-sectoral campaign titled “ENOUGH: Ending Child Hunger and Malnutrition” in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region. The campaign aims to complement the government’s and other stakeholders’ efforts to eradicate child hunger and malnutrition in the country.

A Call for Policy Change and Increased Support – World Vision

During the launch event at Damongo, Mr Rexford Bugre, Northern Regional Operations Manager for World Vision Ghana, emphasised the importance of policy change to support children and ensure they have access to sufficient food and nutrition. He noted that the organisation had already implemented various interventions, including the provision of boreholes, mechanised water systems, and latrines for households and institutions in select communities. He called for the support of all stakeholders to ensure the project’s successful implementation.

Government and Stakeholder Involvement

Madam Asare urged the government and relevant stakeholders to provide adequate funding to implement nutritional policies effectively. She also called for the expansion of the school feeding program to reach the most vulnerable and deprived communities, ensuring that all children, particularly those in need, benefit from the initiative.

World Vision Ghana’s “ENOUGH” campaign is a significant step toward addressing the pressing issue of child hunger and malnutrition, with a focus on creating sustainable change through collaboration, policy change, and dedicated resources. The campaign aims to ensure a healthier and more secure future for children in the region and across the country.
