No Easy – 3 Eclectic musicians motivate on brand new single

No-Easy-by-Dr-Pushkin-X-Gingsen-&-King-Ayisoba-1

About No Easy

No Easy! All have said these two words; however, the next step after speaking is what defines resilience and success. Three unique musicians from varied artistic schools join together to motivate fans on this song. While Dr Pushkin has proven to be an amazing rapper and AI prodigy, Gingsen has gone beyond impeccable music to creating stunning graphics and visuals. King Ayisoba, on the other hand, has popularized the artistic sounds from Bolgatanga’s number 1 music instrument, Kologo. Suffice it to say, this song is about three Bolga Boys conquering the world.

No Easy is a Trap Hip Hop song which exudes the fierceness required in a resolute stance. All three artists personalized the song by bringing their A-Game.

Who is Gingsen?

Gingsen

Gingsen is a fast-rising musician originally from Bolgatanga but pushing his music to the world. He’s been featured by Ghana’s EL a number of times. Since venturing into the music scene, he’s proven to be a major force set for dominance. At the last edition of the Upper East Music Awards, Gingsen picked up 5 Awards to compliment his stature. In the last few weeks, he’s released a number of songs that are doing well on all digital platforms.

Gingsen is regarded as one of the youngest people who is about to do it right. From flow to beats and visual representation, he’s a major creative.

Who is King Ayisoba

King Ayisoba came to prominence in the days of Terry Bonchaka. Since then, he has carved a niche for himself as a Kologo-playing musician. What makes him unique is the dexterity with which he plays the traditional instrument over contemporary rhythms. It is not surprising that he is ahead of his peers in the business of using Kologo to awe-inspire the world.

King Ayisoba has performed across the world and won several awards from Ghana and beyond. He is touted as one of Ghana’s greatest music exports in the last 20 years.

Who is Dr Pushkin?

Dr Pushkin is a rare gem, one who has managed to effectively navigate the hurdles of academia, racial injustice, and technological bias and stood tall. Despite possessing an innate desire for poetry and rap, he pursued other passions till a few years ago. Having successfully launched his Algorine Inc. tech startup and Isolirium Entertainment music label, the tech-giant and AI expert has assumed a multi-tasking persona to keep winning.

Dr Pushkin has combined his work as a developer with music. He’s released several singles and 2 Albums. In 2024, he set out to release more music and has thus far lived up to it. Starting with No Heroes at the beginning of the year, he dropped several chart-topping singles in 2024.

No Easy comes in to remind music lovers that nothing in life is going to come easily. To be a champion is not easy; you have to work hard.

Enjoy this eclectic sound from your favorites, Dr Pushkin, Gingsen, and King Ayisoba.

No Easy is indeed the Sound of Champions. Infectious and Unstoppable, repping B-Town till 6. Paul Azunre, AzkonnaBeatz and Cam Henderson produced the song.

For the love of the Cane Corso – Primo Paws

When a son whispers to his father, “Daddy, this is it”, and the father accepts the decision, one thing is certain. The father trusts the son. And that is how the story of Primo Paws started. For every dog owner, lover, or breeder, trust is one thing that influences life with a furry friend. So, no matter how aesthetically pleasing a dog may look, everyone desires one that can be trusted for its purpose.  Cane Corso Italiano, often called the Cane Corso, is one such dog that will always deliver on its purpose. The good news is that one doesn’t need to travel outside Ghana to get world-class quality.

Likem – Lebene’s son

The Father-Son relationship

Often, a father inculcates a lot of what he is or aspires to be in their son. However, in these times, children influence parents in unimaginable ways. Many reasons account for this, but the acceptance of children as capable of spotting beauty, elegance, and opportunity appears unparalleled. When Lebene Adjoyi’s son introduced him to the Cane Corso, his intrigue with the dog soared. He set out on a quest to know more about the dog. While at it, he found an impressive array of characteristics that placed the Cane Corso at the fore of what he needed in a dog.

Primo-Paws-Alpha-de-Champ

According to Lebene Adjoyi, the drive to create a home for these impressive canines came from getting to know them.

“Our drive for the breed stems from its majestic & expressive look, muscular build, powerful bite, guard instincts, intelligence, strong-willed temperament, confidence, and loyalty to their owners.”

Starting Primo Paws

For an advertising executive who is also into the sales and marketing of automobile services, raising this not-so-common breed in Ghana was an avenue to stand out and excel. The next phase was assessing the interest of his family in the breed. For Lebene, he didn’t seek to have dogs in a Kennel. He wanted dogs that were an integral part of his family. The family’s role in ensuring the dogs thrived was a vital piece of the puzzle Primo Paws was fixing.  Once the love for the breed was an item of unison, Primo Paws was ready to do business.

Starting with creating an ideal home for the Cane Corso in Ghana, Primo Paws invested in the infrastructure needed to ensure these beautiful dogs would thrive. In 2022, the move to bring dogs to Primo Paws started. Cane Corso’s were imported from all over the world. Primo Paws sought to bring in the best from Italy, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Hungary, and Russia.

“All with the aim of improving on the breed, meeting the breed standard and having strong pedigree bloodlines for selective pairing during mating”.

We are breeding show-winning dogs at Primo Paws.

To be fulfilled as a Dog breeder is to see your dogs excel in different homes and dog shows. Primo Paws ‘ breeding program has gained notoriety as an awesome specimen for Cane Corso. Therefore, when three of their dogs won in different classes at the August Classic Dog Show at the Dworwulu Astro Turf in Accra, the entire team saw the reward for their hard work.

In 2023, a 13-month-old Cane Corso topped the August Classic Dog Show in Accra as Best in Show. In 2024, the same dog emerged as Best in Show at ACDS 24. This dog named Primo Paws Alpha stood out amongst many dogs. With an impressive physique, great temperament, and great socialisation, he wowed the judges at ACDS 24.

Undefeated Primo Paws Alpha

Bred to guard and protect, with a high drive for excellence, Primo Paws Alpha is one of the dogs born and raised by Primo Paws kennel right here in Ghana. He didn’t just win the ultimate at ACDS 24; he also won in several other categories. He Placed 1st as Best of Breed (BOB – ACDS 24), Best in Group (BIG), Best in Show – Locally Born & Bred, and also placed second in Best in Show for the West African Ring.

Two other dogs from Primo Paws also came tops at the August Classic Dog Show. Primo Paws Jelemi scored excellent points on the judge’s score sheet and came out as 1st in the Best Cane Corso Italiano puppy class. Another dog from the Kennel, Perla Del Parma Selena, scored very promising on the judge’s score sheet and also came 1st in the baby class.

Primo-Paws-team

The above wins are a testament to the kennel’s penchant for producing quality. According to Lebene, the kennel prioritises the “Temperament, health tests, bloodline, Owners, pedigree lineage, majestic looks and the program intended for the dog”. By program, he means the purpose of breeding a particular dog. The same is also considered when selecting dogs for mating. The desire is to always “create” puppies that will perfectly serve their intended purpose for the kennel and owners.

Going into ACDS

A cursory look at Primo Paws Alpha reveals a beauty with an athletic physique. He, therefore, came into the show as one with the looks. However, being a well-trained dog, the work around the dog show ring, his social nature, and his energy for competition brought him to the fore. Prior to the show, Primo Paws Alpha was given more training sessions and socialised more, and his improvement per training session suggested he was the dog to look out for. The dog was trained by the Kennel and handled by the owner, Lebene Adjoyi.

Q and A with Lebene Adjoyi

Thesavannaonline: What does this win mean for you personally and for your breeding program?

Lebene Adjoyi: It’s a win for the Cane Corso family in general, a win to also place Primo Paws on the minds of dog lovers and the map. It is an opportunity to train and compete in international shows. It clearly shows Primo Paws is on the right breeding program for a locally born and bred to win BIS for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024. It gives us the motivation to continue to improve on the breed. The future is bright.

Thesavannaonline: How does this achievement impact the breed’s reputation and your future breeding plans?

Lebene Adjoyi: It clearly gives hope to people who want to own a purebred Cane Corso to drive to Primo Paws for quality show dogs. It is a motivation to continue to improve the breed in Ghana and show the world Ghana has quality Cane Corso, too.

Thesavannaonline: What are your plans for this winning dog?

Lebene Adjoyi: Compete on an international platform and improve the breed by carefully selecting females during mating sessions. We aim to win an international medal, especially on the European stage.

Thesavannaonline: How do you plan to build on this success for your breeding program?

Lebene Adjoyi: Compete with him on international platforms and improve on the breed with the females I select during mating. An improvement in his offspring will be the way to go.

Thesavannaonline: What advice would you give to someone new to breeding and interested in showing dogs?

Lebene Adjoyi: The love for dogs and the improvement of the breed should be greater than anything else. Reading more about the breed will guide the person to excellence. Being on the podium doesn’t come easily, and every breeder should put in the hard work to push their kennel on the international stage.

Thesavannaonline: Are there any common misconceptions about breeding or showing that you would like to address?

Lebene Adjoyi: People think breeding is all about making money from puppy sales, but there is more to it. There is a union/family to belong to, KUG, where one can learn more about breeding and dog care. It is a union full of networking and having fun with our furry friends. Following the dog standard should be the ultimate aim of every breeder or dog lover.

Thesavannaonline: Has your kennel won any awards in the past? If yes, which categories and competitions?

Lebene Adjoyi: We have won some awards since venturing into the business of breeding. We came 2nd as BIS – Puppy Class in 2022 – (All breed Show, Dzorwulu – Ghana)

BIS – Cane Corso Specialty Show – Aburi – Ghana

BIS – ACDS 2023

BIS – ACDS 2024

Inspired to Breed Amazing Rottweilers and German Shepherds

The Canine industry in Ghana is fast growing. While most breeders are believed to be in the Greater Accra Region, the recent ACDS 24 show saw breeders from different regions in Ghana participating. One Dog that converted the top price as BEST ROTTWEILER in the PUPPY CLASS, Leo, came from a Kennel in Hohoe, Volta Region – Ghana. The young male Puppy wowed dog lovers and show Judge Tania Edwards, making the win one without doubt. Leo is a Ghana born and bred puppy from Yazo Kennel owned by Ali Francis.

When Ali Francis set off on the journey to Accra with his dogs, he was confident of a good showing. He trusted in the quality of his dogs, and their potential. For him, Yazo Kennel is young in the business of breeding, however, he started right, and thus, will fit into the grand scheme of upholding breed standards, and producing enviable quality.

How Yazo Kennel Started

Ali Francis started Yazo Kennel purely by accident. Ali’s love for dogs go as far back as when he was 5yrs old. However, breeding happened after he got his first 2 Boerboels in 2022. The size of his Dogs compared to other Boerboels in the Volta Region inspired him to consider selling Puppies. After a successful sale of the first set of puppies, he realised it was a viable business opportunity. A visit to a friend also led to a connection with Haus of Vigilio and Lion Kennel, breeders of Rottweilers and German Shepherds respectively. Two years after that introduction, Yazo Kennel finally decided to breed Rottweilers and German Shepherds of impeccable quality.

A Rottweiler at Yazo Kennel

Why Yazo Kennel Chose to Breed Rottweilers and German Shepherds

Breeders largely gather all their knowledge from peers, online, and vets. However, getting extablished breeders to impart knowledge can be daunting. According to Ali Francis, the decision to stick with Rottweilers and German Shephereds was due to access to information. Breeders who were willing to help him climb the ropes mainly bred Rottweilers and German Shpherdds, this made the decision easy.

A German Shepherd at Yazo Kennel

After almost 2years of breeding and being close to the Rottweiler and German Shepherds, Yazon Kennel’s Ali Francis said; “I think fell in love with both breeds early enough and it’d be too tasking to expand to others hence my focus on both.”

Leo winning Best Rottweiler – Puppy Class

Even though Ali Francis has been to a number of Dog Shows, ACDS 24 was his first showing of dogs. He brought 2 dogs, Leo (Rottweiler) and Nadia (German Shepherd). Leo topped his class and Nadia placed second in the Best Female German Shepherd in the Junior Class.

Leo – Best Rottweiler Puppy Class – ACDS 24

Leo is born and bred in the Yazo Kennel. He loves to play and doesn’t thrive on jealousy like other dogs. He is a good “follower”, one that listens to the handler. The adorable Leo was not considered for the show; however, his composed strides of leash made him a candidate. Coupled with his quick learning ability and the confidence with which he finishes tasks, Leo was selected for the August Classic Show 2024.

Preparing Leo for the ACDS’24

Leo’s primary regimen for the show was an increase in walks and runs, this was to avoid any incidence of fatigue at the dog show. From brisk walks, Leo graduated to running with the Bike of his handler. At 7 months, Leo could run up to 50 minutes non-stop. This we believed helped maintain a stamina in anticipation of the show.

To ensure that Leo was well-socialised, Leo’s exercise regimen was in public. Doing that in public made Leo aware of his surroundings and the existence of others including dogs. It made him learn to avoid unnecessary confrontations and barks. He was also potty-trained to avoid doing so while in the ring.

A younger Leo standing above all

Yazo Kennel took a lot of lessons from the internet on how to handle dogs at a show. Leo’s handler, Godsway Tek also got invaluable tips from Haus of Vigilio some days to the event. Ali Francis believed all of these led to Leo’s stellar performance alongside the handler.

Lessons from ACDS 24

Even though Yazo Kennel is aware of the varied quality of dogs in Ghana, participating in the ACDS 24 was a major eye-opener. The kennel finally came face to face with some of the best from competitors, thus, a motivation to not wane in delivering quality. Also, the tips suggested by the FCI judge made a lot of sense to Ali Francis, and he is definitely considering them in the quest to continuously produce awesome and heakth Puppies. Leo’s win also suggested Yazo Kennel is on the right path.

“Before the show, i had a meeting with my team and we all agreed that we are one of the youngest kennels, so we werent going to win by all means, but going to learn and see what we could do differently or improved on. Definitely a positive was added to our reputation.”…Ali Francis, owner of Yazo Kennel

The Future of Yazo Kennel’s Leo

The Future of Leo is bright. The Kennel intends to keep him for breeding and more shows.

Exclusive 1 with K9 Pioneers of Africa Boss – Kobina Andah

In a previous article, we highlighted Kobina’s efforts towards promoting canine welfare through the breeding of high value Dobermanns. As an experienced breeder and owner of K9 Pioneers of Africa, he has invaluable nuggets for dog owners, breeders, and pet lovers. Therefore, we decided to do a random Q&A with this Dobermann aficionado.

Kobina Andah owner of K9 Pioneers of Africa on the extreme left

Background to K9 Pioneers of Africa Kennel’s Kobina Andah.

Kobina is a Development Finance professional. He started hobby breeding dogs in the late 1980s and founded K9 Pioneers of Africa Kennel in 2017, after a break of almost 10 years. He’s working at establishing his own bloodline with which to work in urban search and rescue and also successfully compete in major international championships.

Kobina’s preference for the Dobermann stems from its loyalty, intelligence and high trainability. The breed is known for its protective instincts. Dobermanns are versatile, excelling in various roles (e.g., service, police work). They require regular exercise and mental stimulation.

Q & A with Mr. Kobina Andah – K9 Pioneers of Africa Kennel’s view on the impact of winning at Dog Shows

Thesavannaonline: How does this achievement impact the breed’s reputation and your future breeding plans?

KA: The show is a tool for my breeding plan, not the other way around because a breeding plan exists before and many years beyond a show. Shows pick out who amongst peers is producing dogs closest to the breed standard because producing a dog that’s 100% accurate to the breed standard is impossible, and that is why even an excellent specimen cannot be perfect.

Thesavannaonline: What was your reaction when you learned the puppy had won?

KA: I expected him to best all the adult dogs, but he wasn’t even the overall best puppy on show that day, so we have a lot more work to do and shows to attend for the diverse opinions of as many of judges of high repute as possible.

Thesavannaonline: How have clients or other breeders reacted to the news of this win?

KA: It’s mostly our handlers that have the most significant celebrations because they make heavy investments of their time and emotions, and the aim is to win, so we also need to teach them sportsmanship, which is why no single handler works exclusively with one dog. They must be happy for each other and stand ready to step in as substitute handlers if needed.

A few buyers on our paid waiting list showed up to watch. That being said, I have not received any feedback based on Elijah’s performance, maybe because I haven’t made any noise about it or have any content for my social media handles.

Thesavannaonline: Will Elijah be involved in further competitions or breeding?

KA: The answer to your question is yes and yes unless he’s purchased and resides way beyond our reasonable reach, because we export more dogs than we sell locally.

Building on the effects of winning at Dog shows

Thesavannaonline: How do you plan to build on this success for your breeding program?

KA: The show results affirm that our breeding plan is on the right trajectory. Apart from the Dobermanns of totally unknown parentage, we were the only breeders showing off dogs produced locally. I wish that everyone, especially prospective buyers, appreciate the foolproof route of showing high-value livestock produced to get globally accepted affirmation rather than almost exclusively relying on social media hype.

Advice to people interested in breeding

Thesavannaonline: What advice would you give someone new to breeding and interested in showing dogs?

KA: The biggest and most common mistake is to begin with mediocre dogs in an attempt to improve your stock, because those mediocre genes may pop up when you can least afford them to.

The best way is to seek out a mentor with high value stock. When they’re comfortable that you’re ready, they will start co-owning their dogs with you. The situation will further align the interests of both parties and guarantee mutual benefits.

Even international co-ownerships are possible, but those have higher entry points.

Thesavannaonline: Are there any common misconceptions you would like to address about breeding or showing?

KA Yes, as is quite common, the least informed are amongst those with the most potent convictions, followed by the partially informed.

For this reason, we hold an open day/immersion once every Saturday so people can visit our facilities for a free hands-on experience and education.

The list of old wives’ tales and ludicrous misconceptions is endless. It will be a futile exercise to attempt to mention them all here.

Thesavannaonline: What is your view on Dog Shows in Ghana?

KA: Since KUG started hosting conformation shows almost 10 years ago, this show has had the most impressive turnout of high-quality spectators, which indicates that whatever the show committee did differently regarding marketing and publicity yielded positive results.

Thesavannaonline: What is your favourite aspect of breeding and showing dogs?

KA The most heartwarming aspect of breeding is the unexpected feedback you get when new owners are awed by their new charges. It never gets old, which is what we breed for—excellent specimens of the perfect breed.

Looking for a superior quality Dobermann right here in Ghana?

Read the story below.

K9 Pioneers of Africa Kennel has a Perfect Dobermann for you.

Meet the Man breeding world-class Dobermanns in Ghana

Kobina Andah is a banking professional who ventured into the business of Dogs from an early stage. Starting as a hobby, he transitioned into a formal breeding program, birthing K9 Pioneers of Africa Kennel. He is pursuing an agenda to have an established bloodline of a superior quality Dobermann “to compete and win both working and conformation championships at the highest international levels”. At this point, he may consider retiring as a breeder.

Kobina Andah’s love for the Dobermann.

Kobina-Andah-Training-a-dog

What the average person sees in a dog is different from what a breeder in love with a specific dog can see, desire, and nurture. While one may see commerce, a man of honesty sees an opportunity to create the best companion for a man – a friend that will protect. And that is where Kobina Andah stands as a Dobermann breeder of great repute. Kobina Andah’s affinity with dogs came from a very young age. However, his introduction to the Dobermann breed as a child around the 1970’s, the love peaked.

Young-Kobina-Andah

He got his first dog from one of the earliest imports of the breed to Ghana. Young Kobina Andah was now face to face with the lovely canine he had come to love so much.  Dr Sydney Quartey and his son, the late Kenneth Quartey, were behind the dogs that gave young Kobina Andah his first Dobermann. As he sought more knowledge to ensure he provided maximum care and got the most out of the dog, Dr Poku Pare and Hans Roth (a breeder of German Shorthaired Pointers) taught him the ropes in breeding.

Why Kobinah Andah chose the Dobermann

Kobina-Andah-and-Family

As a powerful and muscular dog within the Working Group category of dogs, the Dobermann is a protector and perfect companion. The courage, loyalty and intelligence of the Dog continue to be its selling point. Excellent at Police and Military work, this lovely short-coated canine has proven to excel well in homes.

The choice to breed the Dobermann is one founded on the uniqueness of its qualities.

According to Kobina Andah;

“Dobermanns are the only protective breed developed to live in close contact with humans because the breed was developed exclusively for personal protection. To experience a well-bred Dobermann is the definition of total, unconditional love and devotion.”

Despite loving and breeding the Dobermann, he also has a love for the Dogo Argentino; however, because they require highly experienced owners, he only keeps some for himself and not for breeding.

Having participated in several Dog Shows, Kobina Andah’s K9 Pioneers of Africa has won every category possible since they started doing conformation in 2018.

According to Kobina Andah;

“That was easier because there weren’t that many good quality dogs or serious, knowledgeable breeders and owners. To date, the population of Dobermanns in Ghana is minuscule compared to the other popular guardian breeds, so if a Dobermann can come out of a field of 4 dogs and hold its own against a dog that’s come out of a field of 30-50, it’s quite an achievement. The numbers for Dogo Argentinos are smaller still, but we persevere.”

Elijah is BEST DOBERMANN – JUNIOR CLASS, ACDS

The Kennel Union of Ghana, in partnership with the Shihtzu National Specialty Show, brought to the fur-loving public the 2024 edition of the August Classic Dog Show (ACDS). The event sought to crown the best dog breeds in Ghana and West Africa. Several Kennels and Dog Breeders participated in this annual event.

The highlight of the event, which also had a socialisation component, was seeing the majestic dogs taking turns to mesmerise the crowd and judge with the physique, trod, and conformation to the breed standards. One Dog that stood out was a Dobermann named Elijah. Coming in with an excellent head and movements, he was crowned BEST DOBERMANN in the JUNIOR CLASS, suggesting the exploits of Elijah as a top dog are just beginning.

Elijah’s journey to being crowned at the ACDS 24 event was quite easy, as dogs from K9 Pioneers of Africa are well-trained. However, he required some weeks of “beefing up” to get used to gaiting alongside a handler. Gaiting alongside a handler is quite different from the heel work Elijah is used to in obedience class.

Elijah-and-His-Handler

With a strict regimen of maintaining the breed standards of a Dobermann and ensuring desirable traits via pedigree lines, Elijah required very little socialisation prior to the event. He is from a genetically balanced bloodline and gets to interact with visitors to the premises of K9 Pioneers of Africa under supervision.

Kobina Andah had the following to say to buttress the point of socialisation:

“When we want to lay the finishing touches of personal protection training on them, we actually need to bring in people they don’t know; otherwise, protection training is just a game to the dog which we conduct repetitively to achieve muscle memory.”

Elijah is one of Kobina Andah’s Dobermann at his K9 Pioneers of Africa Kennel. The facility is a breeding and training kennel of reputation in Ghana and Africa. Elijah is from the Kennel’s anchor bitch, Ch Ace Ancora and Chairman Carmelo Made in Sicily, both Italian imports from very old and respected lines.

Considering the fact that the definition of breeding is to improve and maintain the breed standard, Elijah’s win indicates K9 Pioneers of Africa is on track. Thus, it is an affirmation of the quality of the Kennel.

Elijah’s synergy with handlers at the ACDS was easy. He learnt to stacking alongside handlers. It made the judge’s examination and inspection much easier.

K9 Pioneers of Africa consider a variety of factors when choosing breeding dogs. Health and Temperament are at the fore; however, physical attributes and genetic diversity also play a vital role in the choice.

“Due to the nature of purebreds, each breed has unique genetic vulnerabilities that may not even be possible to test for, so the rule of thumb is to intimately study the four most recent generations in a pedigree for longevity and quality. Some breeders advise seven generations, but I believe four generations work just fine.” Kobina Andah

Black Leash Rottweilers reveals 1 amazing specimen at ACDS24

As we inch closer to another mammoth gathering of Dogs in Ghana in November 2024, let’s delve into the story of an exceptional rottweiler and kennel enjoying a reign from the last dog show. Holb Blue of Black Leash Rottweilers is on our radar.

Black-Leash-Rottweilers

Building a business out of passion is the most fantastic way for many to thrive effortlessly. And that is the story of Alphonse Menyo, the young man behind Black Leash Rottweilers. His Dog Holb Blue is currently the ACDS 2024 title holder of 2 trophies: BEST ROTTWEILER – OPEN CLASS and BEST OF BREED – ROTTWEILER.

Holb Blue’s win is challenging; it results from years of unfettered love for dogs. However, when one realises the possibility of turning passion into money, learning more and practising industry standards is only appropriate.

Let’s journey into the conception of Black Leash Rottweillers and the story of Holb Blue.

How Alphonse Amenyo ventured into breeding Rottweilers

Alphonse-and-Some-of-his-Dogs

Growing up, dogs were an integral part of the family. Young Alphonse was, however, responsible for caring for them. Through that, his love for man’s best friend became evident. Alphonse’s attachment to the dogs created a yearning to see dogs thrive and do very well. So, when he realised the possibility of building a business out of it, he started the Black Leash Rottweilers in 2016. The choice of breed was because he loved their sturdy build, strength and the ease of their nature.

Choosing Dogs for Black Leash Rottweiler Breeding Programs

While many people can identify different dogs, choosing a dog for breeding requires particular attention to detail. Most breeders will start from the Pedigree of a Dog. However, It is expected to meet breeders who pay particular attention to the dog’s legs, tail, top line, and overall structure and temperament. Matching the suitable dogs will ensure the future litter inherits the desired qualities. Alphonse has, therefore, learnt to select a good breeding stock.

Just as care is taken to choose a breeding stock, the breeding combination also requires careful consideration to draw out the best from the litter. The pedigree, temperament, specific traits, genetic diversity, and other factors are considered before combining.

The Journey thus far – Black Leash Rottweiler Journey

Meanwhile, Black Leash Rottweilers currently have an impressive number of dogs. The Journey has been one of success built on success. Having won several awards at different dog shows in Ghana. Black Leash Rottweilers are excited about raising Hov Ludo and Holb Blue to become winners. Holb Blue is the newest gem from the kennel.

Holb Blue’s Journey to Winning at ACDS

The annual August Classic Dog Show came off on the 31st of August 2024. An impressive array of Dogs competed in different categories and classes. Holb Blue came in as a Ghana-bred Rottweiler. Her Sturdy build and majestic strides were admirable. One key factor for participation is meeting breed standards. Coming from a good pedigree and raised to meet world standards, she stood out as a winner.

A well-trained dog, Holb Blue brought shine to Black Leash Rottweilers with her good legs, head structure, muscular tail, skin tone, and top line.

Like most dogs, Holb Blue was prepped for the ACDS through more socialisation, exercises, gaiting, etc. Unsurprisingly, she topped her class and category and class at the ACDS. Holb Blue also came 3rd as the Best in Show – ACDS 24.

Quams the Breeder of Top Quality German Shepherds

Aylesbury Pandora is a Ghana-born and Bred Puppy. It is one of the most impressive dogs raised at the Aylesbury Kennel at Spintex-Spintex Road- Baatsona Basket Junction. Emerging as the BEST GERMAN SHEPHERD LONG COAT in the JUNIOR CLASS, she is a fine specimen ready to take the breeding space of Ghana by storm.  Having passed assessments to meet FCI and AKC standards with excellent marks, her mask, structure, and well-defined angulation meant she is a worthy Dog Show participant. Despite competition from other beautiful entries at ACDS 2024, Aylesbury Kennel’s Pandora was tops.

Aylesbury-Kennel—Pandora

The owner believes Pandora came into the ring with “an excellent structure, perfect bite, a super-solid coat, and excellent mannerisms.”

Her win didn’t just happen, “it was a result of some weeks of gaiting, walking, leash work and stellar grooming. She also had to undergo ring work training and more socialisation with over 16 dogs.”

Eventually, stepping into the ACDS 2024 ring with impressive movements likened to a Mercedes Benz E-Class by the owner.

Her owner said, “She was born for the ring and born to win.”

Aylesbury Kennel’s team did impressive work in producing this beautiful young female.

When quizzed about the most memorable moment at the show, the owner of Aylesbury had this to say; “Pandora likes attention; when you show her attention, she performs brilliantly; when you reduce the attention, she lags .. it’s all about love.”

Kwame Asamoah Aka Quams

A typical Ghanaian home desires Children whose academic pursuits will land them an impressive social status via a job. However, the last few decades have seen people blending traditional and unhinged pursuits to achieve thrill, academic success, and impact on the socio-economic well-being of society. The story of Aylesbury Kennel is an amalgamation of such. The excitement of owning loyal top-notch dogs, producing the same, and balancing it with a white-colour job makes Kwame Asamoah an inspiration for all who seek fulfilment from what they do.

Venturing into Breeding

Kwame Asamoah is a man who wins many with his ever-beaming smile; behind that smile is a certainty that he provides all with superior quality German Shepherd Dogs right here in Ghana. Kwame Asamoah is a telecom Engineer by profession, however, his affinity with animal husbandry always allowed an eye on the business. Thus, he ventured into raising various livestock at an early age. After graduating from university, his interest in dogs peaked as a friend introduced him to refined breeding.

Starting Aylesbury Kennel

He was eventually advised to acquire his first Purebred female German Shepherd. The purchase marked the start of his journey.

The choice of what dog to breed was a combination of factors. Whilst learning about quality, Kwame Asamoah, also known as Quams, sorts knowledge on different breeds. He then outlined what he desired in a dog, which led to the German Shepherd’s choice. According to Quams, he wanted a strong, intelligent dog that was much easier to train.

After acquiring the first dog, he sought to use top-of-line males for Stud. Luckily, Rex Wireko Brobbey of Ghana’s Fastest Human fame allowed young Kwame Asamoah to use his male. That act of kindness catapulted him into a sphere of breeding quality and high-value Dogs. He kept several great Danes and Toy Dogs as pets to hone the skill or art of raising impressive dogs.

Aside from desirable traits, German Shepherds are challenging to breed. However, Aylesbury Kennel thrived based on the love for the breed. For over ten years, Aylesbury has diligently challenged itself with breeding nothing short of the best. The kennel has produced and served the dog-loving public with top-of-the-line German shepherds as pets and security.

Facts about Aylesbury Kennel

Aylesbury Kennel has standards dear to heart; foremost, it meets standards set by FCO or AKC. Breeding combinations are also influenced by “the inbreeding coefficient and pedigree details juxtaposed with what the kennels want to achieve with a particular litter”. However, the structure of the Dogs comes before the coat for Aylesbury Kennel.

Aylesbury doesn’t just sell dogs; they ensure each Puppy gets a home capable of giving it the best care and support possible.

In the words of Quams.

“We are never in a hurry to sell; we want a perfect home for all our puppies”.

Some Major feats.

The kennel’s Karlos Von Mouttaz Ibrahim is 4x CAC (2022 – 2023), and he has also emerged as Best Male in many Dog shows.

Best Jnr Female & Jnr CAC at the just ended ACDS for Aylesbury Pandora

The above solidifies Aylesbury Kennel’s prowess in breeding world-class German Shepherds right here in Ghana.

What’s the future for Aylesbury Pandora?

As exciting as this win is, Aylesbury Kennel doesn’t rest on comfort; thriving and reigning as a kennel in the German Shepherd Space remains a focus. Thus, when a dog like Pandora is “created”, she fits perfectly into the breeding program. In the near future, potential puppy buyers will own a piece of this well-bred Dog as their own. She will also make more entries into dog shows across Ghana, West Africa, Africa, and hopefully on the world stage.
