Thanks to a generous contribution of $742,000 from FIFA, the Upper East Region now boasts its first FIFA-standard pitch.

Ghana’s Upper East Region unveiled their first-ever FIFA-standard football pitch with the support of a generous investment from FIFA, which also marked the launch of the GFA Elite Football Academy. The collaboration between GFA and FIFA aims to enhance regional football and provide exceptional training opportunities for young athletes. The academy, situated in Winkongo, will combine academic studies with practice to nurture future football stars. This advancement marks a significant achievement for football progress in Ghana.

The first-ever FIFA-standard football pitch in Ghana’s Upper East Region was unveiled on Tuesday, April 15. This was made possible thanks to a generous $742,000 investment from the organization. The special occasion also marked the launch of the GFA Elite Football Academy. It included the presentation of Nissan 4×4 pickups to different Regional Football Associations. GFA President Kurt Okraku extended his heartfelt appreciation to FIFA for contributing to Ghanaian football’s growth.

The Upper East Region previously lacked a FIFA-standard pitch. Now, this advancement marks a significant achievement for football progress.
