Police Deploy 400 Officers, Warn Against Disruption of NDC Northern Regional Elections in Tamale
Northern Regional Police will deploy 400 officers for the NDC regional executive elections in Tamale on 13–14 November and warn against any disruption.

The Northern Regional Police Command says it will deploy 400 officers to secure the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Northern Regional Executive Elections in Tamale on 13 and 14 November, and has warned that anyone who tries to disrupt the vote will face the law, according to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
The Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Wisdom Lavoe, announced the plan at a press conference in Tamale on Thursday. He said the command had noticed growing tension among stakeholders ahead of the elections.
Security perimeters and accreditation
According to GNA, the officers will be placed across inner, middle and outer security perimeters and at the entry points to the venue. Specialised officers are also being trained to use protective riot gear and other crowd-control equipment.
DCOP Lavoe said only people accredited for the elections would be allowed into the voting areas, and asked those without accreditation to stay away from the stadium.
He said the police would not tolerate intimidation, attacks, insults or other misconduct that could undermine a peaceful process, and appealed to party executives, aspirants and supporters to show restraint and avoid statements that could raise tensions.
A closely watched contest
The regional executive elections, including the race for regional chairman, have drawn strong interest among party members in the region, with local media in Tamale running commentary on the leading contenders in recent days.
The police commander assured the public that the command was prepared to maintain law and order before, during and after the exercise, and urged NDC members to show maturity and tolerance so that the elections pass off peacefully.
