About the KUG National All Breed Show – Paws for Peace
30th November 2024, Dog lovers, breeders, trainers, and all who find themselves within the canine ecosystem will converge in one way or another. This grand gathering at the Dworwulu Astro Turf in Accra will host the finest dogs in Ghana in another edition of the highly contested KUG National All-Breed Show. Organized by the Kennel Union of Ghana, the 2024 edition has a wide array of dog breeds representing different groups of dogs.
Themed around peaceful elections, “barking for peace,” the Kennel Union of Ghana seeks to use this event to advocate against any incidents that can affect the quiet nature of Ghana’s upcoming elections. The union would encourage healthy competition that rewards the winner without brewing tensions through this event. For each win at this year’s event, Ghanaians would be furthering the course of remaining together no matter the outcome of the competitions.
Which Dog Breeds are Going into the National All Breed Show 2024
Several dog breeds have been included in the show. However, the number of 14 Dobermanns remains unmatched. Breeds entered are Dobermanns, Rottweilers, Poodles, German Shepherds, Cane Corso Italiano, Boerboel, Shih Tzu, Presa Canario, Lhasa Apso, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, and the American Cocker Spaniel.
In recent times, more and more Ghanaians have been choosing Dobermann. While many are yet to fully appreciate the capability of this sturdy, friendly, intelligent, and workaholic dog, previous dog shows in Ghana have not only proven this dog’s uniqueness but also its show-readiness.
Members of the Dobermann Club of Ghana, a breed group under the Kennel Union of Ghana, are poised to make another major showing. A few days ago, 14 Dobermanns were registered to participate in this competition. All the registered dogs have impressive bloodlines and pedigree certificates recognized by the world governing canine body, FCI, and KUG. With such documentation, the first hurdle of quality bloodlines has been established.
The next phase, culminating in dominance at the KUG National All Breed Show 2024, is readiness for all the ring work. Characteristic of most members of the Dobermann Club of Ghana, dogs are trained. Thus, the few techniques such as gaiting, stacking, and all the required to succeed in the ring work will be smooth for the Dobermann.
About the Dobermann Club of Ghana
The Dobermann Club of Ghana (DCG) was founded in 2018 by breeders who sought to ensure the quality of the breed conforms and stays in tandem with the breed standards set by the International Dobermann Club (IDC). As a club, the primary mission is to improve the quality of Dobermanns in Ghana to meet the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) breed standard under the auspices of the Kennel Union of Ghana (KUG).
The Dobermann Club of Ghana (DCG) seeks to achieve its primary mission by promoting ethical breeding, registration of dogs and puppies in the KUG stud book, and promoting canine welfare along the ideals promoted by the Dobermann Verein eV and IDC, which are the primary guardians of the Dobermann worldwide.
With the recent announcement of KUG’s FCI membership, the DCG is inching closer to becoming an IDC member.
Through the investments of club members dedicated to the breed, Ghana can boast high-quality Dobermanns, allowing for the production of dogs that meet the FCI breed standard. And on Saturday, 30th November 2024, 14 Dobermanns from the Club will reign at the KUG National All Breed Show 2024.
