The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly has begun mobilising traditional leaders, businesses and residents for the Royal Savannah Fest and Investment Expo 2026, which will be held at Jubilee Park in Tamale from 8 to 10 December, Radio Tamale reports.

The event, themed “Reclaiming the North”, aims to showcase the cultural heritage of northern Ghana and draw tourism and investment to the area.

Chiefs, a carnival and an investment exhibition

Organisers plan a high-level dialogue of traditional authorities, a grand durbar of chiefs, a Pan-African street carnival, a Savannah investment exhibition and visits to selected tourist sites. The exhibition is meant to give businesses, entrepreneurs and investors a platform to explore opportunities in agriculture, tourism, culture and natural resources.

The festival is expected to bring together chiefs, government officials, investors, business operators and cultural groups, and to strengthen partnerships between traditional authorities, government, the private sector and development partners.

Assembly calls for commitment

Speaking at a stakeholder engagement on Wednesday, the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Alhaji Adam Abubakari Takoro, asked those present to commit to the festival, saying their support and active participation were essential to its success.

The Naa Bapri Lamashe Naa, Alhaji Iddirisu, linked the festival to the Ghana@70 initiative, describing it as a chance to showcase the country’s cultural heritage and development potential. Ghana marks 70 years of independence in March 2027. He also urged residents to take responsibility for keeping their communities clean.

Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region, is the largest city in northern Ghana and the main gateway for visitors heading to the five northern regions. Details of ticketing, the full programme and participating investors were not included in the report.
